Laura Thompson

Laura Thompson is a Certified Financial Planner with the family owned business, Investia WPG. She joined her father, Ed Thompson, in May of 2000 and her husband, Christophe Rodrigue, joined the business in 2008. Laura was born and raised in Winnipeg and in 1998 attained a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture (Agribusiness) from the University of Manitoba.

Since graduating University, Laura has completed the Canadian Securities course, Professional Financial Planning course, and in 2001 obtained her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. In 2007 she completed her Branch Managers Course. She is also a member of Advocis, an association for professional insurance and financial advisors. Prior to joining Investia WPG, Laura took a position as an Account Manager of Small Business at one of the big 5 banks. Her position at the bank limited the use of her investment and financial planning interests and felt the bank's needs conflicted with what was best for the client.

Laura's passion lies in three key areas:

• Helping women build confidence of their financial lives and provide a guiding light to them through times of uncertainty following a divorce, loss of a spouse, or stress with managing a family, working and being a caregiver
• Assisting business owners organize the multifaceted areas of their business and collaborate with legal and tax professionals to ensure the financial planning side moves in lockstep with their ever changing business
• Helping the next generation build solid financial acumen to become stewards of wealth of their predecessors and guide them to becoming financially independent

Laura and Christophe have three children: Nicolas, Mikayla and Tobias, who keep them busy with their activities (mostly hockey). Laura's interests include horseback riding, travel, & socializing with friends and family.
